GLOW in the dark dance party!!
This is the large area (a gym) that we needed to decorate.
INVITATIONS/POSTER:
The invitations and posters that were created were done using the free app Canva. If you haven’t used it yet, try it out. You can create lots of different images and designs for free, it’s great!
DECOR:
The decorations are always our favorite part! When you have a glow in the dark party, you will need to have black lights and then you want to think NEON! Neon colors will look awesome under the black lights so anytime you can use neon paper, tape, outfits, etc do it!
- We used this neon paper to create long chains that we hung throughout the room.
We used the same neon paper to create a grid on a white board we had in the gym area. After the grid pattern was made, the words “Let’s Dance” was added.
- We purchased white butcher paper at our local craft store and then used this this neon paint to paint the entire block of paper. We then cut different shapes out of the paper that we then hung up on the walls.
.
- We used regular crepe paper like this to make the criss cross designs behind the food table. Certain colors of crepe paper glowed better than others-we used pink, blue, and white.
.
.
- We purchased this black fringe and placed it in the door entry ways. Remember, fringe is ALWAYS a good idea!
- We had 2 different balloon arches that we used for this space:
- The first circular balloon arch was placed behind the DJ and his booth. We used this circular stand as the base. We had this black 7.2×7.2 cover to go over the circle and then we tied these these black polka dot balloons and these neon glow in the dark balloons for the balloon arch.
- We tied the balloons on the fishing line like in our balloon arch tutorial and fastened it around the stand using fishing line as well. You can find the Balloon arch tutorial HERE!
- .
- The second ballon arch was the picture backdrop for photos. We made it by using this rectangle base. This base is so versatile and a good investment if you throw and host a lot of parties. We hung this neon photo backdrop from the top (we ordered the 10×7) and then tied these these black polka dot balloons and these neon glow in the dark balloons for the balloon arch.
- We tied the balloons on the fishing line like in our balloon arch tutorial and fastened it around the stand using fishing line as well. You can find the Balloon arch tutorial HERE!
- The entire room was lit up using these blacklights. We also had these moving blacklights in the corners.
FOOD:
We weren’t in charge of the food, but we did purchase these neon splash tablecloths to go under the food. We also used it for the DJ booth table. The group that was in charge of the food used colorful bins for the snacks they picked and am array of different colorful drinks. It was simple and turned out great with low mess for the party.

We hope this post gives you ideas on how to decorate for a glow in the dark themed dance or party. We also like the though of glow in the dark tape like this for designs on the floor and adding glow in the dark necklaces/bracelets to give to the guests!
