Super Mario Party-Part 2 with free printables

We are so excited to share the activities/games part of the Super Mario party we had, especially with the free printables.  We are always so grateful when we find awesome activities that we can use for free and hope the ones we provide here will be helpful if you ever need to throw a Super Mario party that the kids will remember!  Here are the details:

SCAVENGER HUNT:

The guests arrived and we served a simple lunch.  While we were finishing lunch, we had a surprise delivery and learned that Bowser had taken Princess Peach and we needed to save her!  We were about to be real life characters in a Super Mario game!  It takes the party guests on a wild scavenger hunt where they had to beat all of Bowser’s games in order to receive the next clues and find Princess Peach.

  1. Pin the Mustache on Mario:  this was the first game.  The kids used these mustaches and played pin the mustache on Mario.  Once they had their turn, they got their own mustache and picked either a Mario or Luigi hat to continue on with the game.  The boys loved this part and it made for a cute picture!

Below is a picture of the treasure chest that was delivered with the first clue and everything we needed to play pin the mustache on Mario.  We had the mustaches and hats all ready to go.  The birthday boy was given this Cappy Mario hat.

2.  Find all the Yoshi Eggs:  Next, the kids had to find 12 Yoshi eggs.  These were easy to make, they are fake eggs that have green spots made with a marker.  We hid them around the living room and had the kids find them all to receive the next clue.

3.  For extra fun, we made these coins and taped them to the wall.  Anytime the kids saw coins, they could tap them to collect during the game.  These are made from yellow plates found at the dollar store.

4.  STOMP the Goombas: The next clue led them to these goombas guarding Bowser’s castle.  They had to pop all of them to receive their next clue and move on with the game.  We saw this idea on nestlingdesigns.blogspot.com and knew that it would double as a great decoration, but also serve as a fabulous activity for young boys at the party.  These were easy to make, just blow up brown balloons and push the bottoms through small slits in paper plates.

*TIP: We had fun painting the faces with our littles, but we WOULD NOT suggest doing this for your party!  When the balloons popped, the paint cracked, and made a huge mess!!  We suggest, finding a goomba face, printing it, cutting it in a circle and taping it onto the balloon!

5:  Matching: after they defeated all of the goombas, they had to find this oversize matching game.  This was one of our favorite activities and it captivated all of the party guests until every single match was found.  To make it easy to flip on the wall, we hole punched the top, put a string through it, and taped it to the wall.

*TIP: Mario Matching Instructions for printing

  • Print pages 2-21 Twice
  • Then take those sheets and put them back into the printer so the back side will be printed
  • Print page 1 forty times
  • We trimmed the paper to be more square before we hole punched and hung the game

Love the images, Mario is so fun!  The kids all cheered each other on and it was really the best game!

6. BINGO: After matching, we headed back to the table for BINGO.  We found this free printable for these adorable Nintendo Bingo cards at here at artsy fartsy mama and were so thrilled!  They have the best graphics and lots of characters, we really appreciated this find!

7.  DEFEAT Bowser with fireballs: the last game on our scavenger hunt was to defeat Bowser on top of his castle and save Princess Peach.  This was another favorite game.  The boys loved to throw the fireballs at Bowser and wanted to play it a few times! To create this game, we had this plush Bowser and put him on top of a very large cardboard box.  Princess Peach was inside the cardboard box and all the boys cheered when they got her out, it was so fun!  The fireballs were created with red and yellow tablecloths cut into squares and wrapped around balls, secured with rubber bands.

Defeating Bowser and saving Princess Peach was the end of the game!  The kids loved it and it was really fun to create and bring a Mario game to life!  We hope this inspires you and that you will be able to easily use the free printables if you ever find yourself needing to throw a Super Mario party for a bunch of young kids!  It was so fun!  You can find more ideas for parties and time with your littles @inspired2party on instagram.
