Super Mario Party-Part 1

It’s ME…MARIO!!!!

The birthday boy loves all things Nintendo and requested a Super Mario Birthday Party!  This party brought us back to our childhood and was fun to bring our ideas to life!

We found a great custom switch invitation on Etsy from the shop BBNGRAFX.  They were great to work with, so fast, and have lots of awesome designs.  I told them exactly what I wanted on my invitation and had the digital invitation in my inbox within 48 hours.  I then downloaded it and printed it on cardstock, easy as that!  The quality was amazing and my son said his friends pretended to use them as actual controllers.

Now for the decorations!

We utilized the same balloon banner that we had saved from the Super Bowl party (knowing we had a Mario birthday party coming up) and added green and red balloons!  I can’t stress how amazing having this balloon air pump is for blowing up a lot of balloons for events, we love it!

We twisted red, green, blue, and yellow crepe paper from the top and taped it at the bottom, love the visual impact and background it created for pictures.

The Mario tablecloth, plates, and table decorations were found at Zurchers and the red striped cups and green cups were found at Target on clearance.

This is a similar 8 piece Mario party set with tablecloth or this 16 piece Mario party bundle that we found on amazon that will give the same look on the table. The Super Mario Centerpiece and smaller pieces can be found here.

This entryway Mario scene was centered around pin the mustache on Mario (more on this game in part 2).  The warping tubes and plant were made from butcher paper, which you can easily find at Zurchers or another party store. We used this brick backdrop and these storage cubes  to create the bricks and coin cubes.  You can use 10×10 boxes, but we didn’t have any of these on hand and like to use things we can use again so the storage cubes worked great!

Pin the Mustache on Mario was a fun game that we played.  Stay tuned for more on all the activities and scavenger hunt we played during the party in part 2.

Balloons came from Zurchers and we added eyes to the stars for a little extra detail! Gold star Mylar balloons can also be found at the dollar store:)

These goombas for part of the scavenger hunt were so fun and I just think they are the cutest!  More details with them in part 2.

These favors were perfect and we loved using the cup as the holder because it is functional!  The Super Mario cups can be found here and then fill them with anything you think is fun for the kids at the party.  We decided on these suction cup balls, a rice krispie treat, stickers, and chocolate gold coins.  We also used these Mario pencils  and these Mario party favors for prizes throughout the party.

*TIP: wrap the inside treats/goodies in tissue paper to fill the void in the cup and add to the look!

These adorable thank you gift tags can be found at the Printable Party. We loved the design of them and it is a free printable, which we appreciated!

We hope you get inspired by this post if you ever get to throw a Super Mario birthday party.  Stay tuned for Part 2 of this party, where we will share the big scavenger hunt and all the activities that were involved and kept the kids attention the entire time!  Find more ideas on instagram @inspired2party
