Hot Cocoa Bar

This is a hot cocoa bar that we hosted for a group of teenage girls.  We had so much fun creating this set-up and it was a fun gathering while warming up from the cold!  You can do as much or as little as you want, but this is what is in our picture above:

Two crock-pots full of hot chocolate that we scooped out with ladles:

  • One had Milk Chocolate flavor
  • The other was Peppermint flavor

To stir into the hot chocolate:

  • Candy Canes
  • Pocky Sticks (breaded sticks covered in chocolate)
  • Homemade Caramel Spoons with mini chocolate chips
  • Homemade Chocolate Spoons with crushed candy canes
    • We made these spoons by melting either caramel or chocolate in a bowl in the microwave.  We then put it in a large ziplock bag that we used as a piping bag by cutting off the tip.  Once you have done this, pipe the caramel or chocolate onto the spoon.  If your caramel or chocolate start to cool and won’t come out, we just would warm it up in the bag. Just don’t get it too hot!  Once you have your mixture on the spoon, quickly press whatever additive you are using onto the warm base.  We put mini chocolate chips on the caramel spoons and crushed candy canes on the chocolate spoons, but feel free to get creative!  Then put them in your freezer to harden, easy as that!

Other items to add to the Hot Chocolate:

  • Mini Marshmallows
  • Easy Redi Whip
  • Caramel Squares
  • Chocolate Chips
  • Peanut Butter Chips
  • White Chocolate Chips
  • Crushed Peppermint
  • Crushed Heath Bar
  • Mini Kit Kats
  • Mini Peanut Butter Cups
  • Coconut
  • M&ms

We added chocolate chip cookies and coconut, powder, and chocolate donuts on the side!

We used our same snowmen that we had made from the gingerbread decorating party since these parties were close together.  If you want to make some, they are simple!  Put 3 marshmallows together with toothpicks and then add faces with either edible markers or sharpies if you won’t be eating them!

Use what you have for the containers around your house and dress them up with tags!  We added red and white string to tie the colors all in.  We love to use mason jars, they are so chic and versatile. We even added a little quilt batting for the fake snow…using what we have!

We hope you get some ideas that inspire you from this post and make it easier to have a hot cocoa bar of your own, they are fun!  Follow us on our instagram @inspired2party for more ideas.
