Gingerbread House Decorating Party
One of our favorite traditions is to decorate gingerbread houses. Kids and adults alike look forward to it all year. We hope by sharing this post, it will inspire you with ideas to have your own gingerbread decorating party with friends and family.
The large gingerbread houses are prebuilt that we bought from Sams Club (you can also purchase from Costco), but we suggest you purchase early in the season as they usually sell out. The five little houses are all from the gingerbread village set that we bought from Walmart. The village is perfect for kids so that they all have their own house to decorate.

We made white cupcakes with white frosting and sprinkles to mimic snow. We added a candy cane in the center that we broke at the end and superglued a North Pole sign to, the kids loved them!
The snowmen are three marshmallows put together with toothpicks. We added faces with edible markers, but sharpies would work the same, just make sure not to eat them!
TIP: If you are having a hard time with your icing and your houses aren’t holding together, have a hot glue gun near by. We promise, it works…unless you or your kids want to eat the gingerbread pieces, then we don’t recommend the hot glue!
TIP: Use jars or dishes around your house to hold the candy. If you want to invest in some that you can use for multiple parties, we suggest you check your dollar store first.
TIP: We raided the dollar store for candy to decorate out houses and it worked great. Use sprinkles or colored candy to add cute detail like we did with the mini marshmallows!
TIP: Add a holiday ribbon to your icing bags to make them more festive!
