Nanna’s Cinnamon Rolls
Ingredients
- 1-quart whole milk
- 2 cubes butter
- 1 cup sugar
- 2 packages of active dry yeast (.25 ounce packets)
- 8-9 cups of all purpose flour
- 1 tsp (heaping) baking powder
- 1 tsp baking soda
- 1 Tbsp (heaping) salt
- 1 cube melted butter
- 2 cups brown sugar
- cinnamon (to preference)
Frosting
- 1 cube butter
- 8 oz cream cheese
- cup powdered sugar
- Milk (to consistency preference)
Dough: In a large pot, combine 1-quart whole milk, 2 cubes of butter and 1 cup sugar. On medium – low temperature bring ALMOST to a boil, being careful to NOT actually boil (as this would cause your milk to curdle). Once heated, remove from stove and allow to cool until warm. Add 2 packages of active dry yeast (.25 ounce packets) and whisk together.
Transfer your liquids to a mixing bowl and add about 8 cups of flour, 1 tsp (heaping) baking powder, 1 tsp baking soda and 1 Tbsp (heaping) of salt. Mix until combined, this will form into a sticky dough. Cover the dough with a light towel and let it rise for about an hour.
Now take some thread (or unflavored floss) and slide it under your dough roll about 2 1/2 inches inwards. Wrap the thread around the roll, cross both strings on top and Pull both strings outwards slicing the dough into individual sections.
Watch a Hallmark movie and enjoy Nanna’s Delectable Cinnamon Rolls!!!
Hi! What exactly do you mean by 2 cubes of butter?
They are also known as sticks of butter, but it is equivalent to 1 cup of butter if you aren’t using prepackaged cubes/sticks of butter.
